Slightly modded 85 yota 4runner, stock 22re
TG lift, f/r powertrax lockers,5.29 yukon gears, TG high steer, R151 turbo tranny(lower 1st gear), inchworm 5:1 tcase, TG weld on axle trusses, stock axles front & rear, 38"x15x15 DickCepec FC2's-discontinued :(, Staun beadlocks(only weigh ~ 5 #'s each)
Going in to my remote Cabin in the Sierra Nevada's northeast of Nevada City, California. The road in (~ 10 miles) isn't plowed, so for ~ 4 months/year it has 2'-8' of snow on it.
Driving in deep snow tips: (learned firsthand)
If you're pushing deep snow, air down (I run ~ 1# with staun beadlocks, ~4-5#'s w/o beadlocks) and don't be in a hurry. Remember if you get stuck, how long's it going to take you to dig yourself out with a shovel ? Try to always have another rig to help give you a tug with a "tow strap" (don't use chains, they do some serious damage to your vehicle). Keep in mind when your building a snow/sand rig-- Lighter is better and low center of gravity.
