Brant James: Safety upgrades know no barriers
In an office in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, in front of the Atlanta Bread Company, where she had inhaled a salad between flights during a junket early March manic media, Danica Patrick has shone the light over the next three years for its future. She knows it or not.
A pre-Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in 2009 had established maintenance through 100 degrees in yoga, the quality of wine in Australia and the impassive eye of constant review, when I shook when she signed a new contract with Andretti Autosport, IZOD's IndyCar Series team since 2007.The last year of his contract and future opportunities, I asked, would become a main theme of the season, a fact she readily acknowledged. Patrick was generally Coy / evasive / wave / attractive on its future, perhaps a function of how it works - or substitutes work - the advancement of his career. It delegates to explore their perspectives, without being involved in the daily care of them. There was always dialogue, she said, with different teams, but nothing had really come to be a new agreement with Andretti or any other at this point, dissatisfied NASCAR banter. It has doubled in NASCAR, at this early stage of the court, "an attractive beast," before eventually re-signed for two more seasons, plus a mutual option with Andretti.
Then came the question of with whom she discussed the life and business of stock car racing and it would seek a lawyer if his intentions to race in NASCAR has become more serious. The answer, two years later, apparently predicted his future, like ESPN.com reported this week that Patrick would face a full-time schedule with JR Motorsports Nationwide Series - with whom she ran a partial schedule the past two years - and chose Sprint Cup events with Stewart-Haas Racing, who began his first season with Stewart as owner / driver when our interview took place.
"Dale, yeah," she said of Dale Earnhardt Jr., co-owner of JRM, "but probably Tony [Stewart]."
Appears they had they had the right answers, even if she had not asked any questions yet.
Your own chickenTwo high-profile accidents - including wicked hits by Denny Hamlin, David Ragan and David Reutimann - in areas not protected by SAFER barriers at Watkins Glen this week spurred questions about the overall safety of the route and places of NASCAR in general. But Dr. Dean Sicking, director of the safety of local road in the Midwest at the University of Nebraska, and one of the developers of the system of steel and foam energy reduction, said while the areas risk are inevitable through the series, the sport is less dangerous than ever.

Entering a writing program at a university well known after attending a small Christian liberal arts college was intimidating. The director of the writing skills (MPW) Professional Program at the time was James M. Ragan. Mr. Ragan has been read, and I never stopped by his office to discuss that many students in the program did, I was afraid I would say the wrong thing. Then one day at a conference he told a story about an incident that occurred shortly after he moved to Los Angeles. One night after a performance of one of his plays, he was approached by a small group of people. One of them said: "We want to buy your property." Ragan said his first thought was, "I do not want to sell my house, I just moved in." But what they wanted really to acquire the rights to his play was. After Mr. Ragan shared this story, it seemed less intimidating for me. As examples, he used the movie Juno (the story of a pregnant teenager and the choices it makes) and As Good As It Gets (friendship of a single mother with an artist who is gay). There are disagreements that the characters express their views and can be heated conversations, disagreements, people can be convinced to change their actions or views.
