How did the Mauna Lani Bay become so interested in becoming a part of the sport of triathlon?At The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows we pride ourselves on being a resort that embraces the best that Hawaii has to offer, whether it's our year-round warm sunny climate and ocean lifestyle, the traditions of Hawaiian culture or being the undisputed global hub for the sport of triathlon. As a community, we are proud to be the home of the World Championships and as a hotel, we are inspired by the life-changing nature of the sport.
We made a conscious decision following the Hawaii half distance triathlon in 2010. While always supportive of triathlon events through aid stations and support activities, we decided that our business could also benefit from direct involvement. Watching these events is life changing, and we felt our staff and loyal customers would benefit if we partnered with several elite triathletes and tell their story. Since we started our partnership, several employees have rededicated themselves to fitness and our employee café proudly serves healthy selections. The Mauna Lani Bay is not your typical resort. We are a 30 acre secluded retreat north of Kona on the stunning Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Mauna Lani Bay offers three miles of pristine coastline for ocean swimming, the famous Queen K is on our doorstep - which leads out to the challenging Hawi climb - and we offer multiple running tracks from rugged off-road to paved scenic courses that wind around our golf courses.
We have a leading-edge fitness center complete with a cardio space, weights room and we also offer multiple fitness classes including various forms of yoga and pilates. We are pleased to have our own 25 meter lap pool, providing the option of both pool and open water training.
Mauna Lani Bay is proud to partner with Trek Bicycles and the Trek/K-Swiss team. We are the only resort in Hawaii to have a small fleet of Trek Speed Concept 7 Series available for use when you stay here. This avoids the hassle of transporting your bike and unwelcome excess baggage fees. Just call us in advance to make sure we have your size and don't forget to bring your own pedals and helmet.
